Overview of Idea

The project will unite US students with students from foreign countries through the sharing of culturally significant and new music. We will bring new musical styles to life through the merging of various approaches, lifestyles, etc. Our plan is to use the Communilator language translation app.

The Specifics: How will you use $2,500 to fuel social change through technology?

Using a language translation application along with mobile devices and musical composition apps, students will create new music and share stories of traditional music within cultures, helping students blend styles and traditions to form innovative and unique musical genres. While planning the project, we discovered access to and knowledge of using mobile technology in music classrooms was absent in our community. We are embracing the benefits of using devices such as iPads in a collaborative, creative learning environment. We would use the $2500 to purchase two iPads as well as reviewed and selected music composition and performance apps. We will construct content and activities for the project and purchase the language translation app.
